Celebrating 5 on Fifth

The global dental community recently came to San Francisco — more than 30,000 oral healthcare professionals — for the ADA/FDI World Congress, and we were thrilled to showcase the Dugoni School family to them.

Congratulations to our many Dugoni School alumni, faculty, students and staff who participated in the conference as presenters or attendees, and for being involved in numerous other affiliated meetings and special events.

One of the highlights of the week was our "5 on Fifth" celebration on Friday, September 6. It was exciting to see nearly 2,000 people enjoying the reception at our school’s campus, commemorating our five-year anniversary at 155 Fifth Street. The event attracted the largest number of visitors we have ever had in the building since our new campus opened in 2014.

Thanks to all of you who volunteered at or attended the event. This was a huge team effort that involved many of our school’s departments. I've received many comments from leaders in our profession who were so impressed meeting our students and residents, seeing our facilities and learning more about our people and programs. We also were fortunate to attract numerous sponsors who helped cover the cost of the event, and we are grateful to them. Read more and view photos from the "5 on Fifth" celebration on our website.

The Dugoni School alumni family also had strong representation at the ADA House of Delegates and other organized dentistry meetings. In fact, the majority of the leaders of the ADA District 13 contingent (pictured) are alumni from the Dugoni School. It was also exciting to see recent alums Dr. Dan Hammer '11 and Dr. Brian Hathcoat ’12 (pictured) who were presented with their national "10 Under 10" awards by the ADA for the impact they are making on the profession less than a decade after graduating. Leadership is one of our core values, and our students and alumni exemplify what it means to be leaders every day.

I am so proud of the Dugoni School's involvement in dentistry on a local, national and global level, and for what you all do to keep our educational programs strong. Each of you is an important member of our school family. Together we are doing great things to make a positive impact on the profession today and into the future!
