Welcome back to the new academic year at the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. I hope you are enjoying the summer and had an opportunity to relax and recharge over the break and spend some quality time with loved ones.
This week offers us a great opportunity to reflect and take pride in our Dugoni School family and commitment to providing the very best education for our students and excellent care for our patients and communities.
I had an opportunity to welcome our new DDS 2022 and IDS 2021 classes into our great profession and into the Dugoni School family. They are an incredibly talented and diverse group, and are lucky to have the opportunity to work with you. I know that you will enjoy working with them and helping them grow as people and as professionals.
I look forward to working together and supporting you in the coming year, as we continue strengthening our programs and building an environment that allows us all to thrive as we support the best and brightest students in dental education. Thank you for everything you do that supports our commitment to excellence!
Please join me in wishing Dr. Arthur A. Dugoni a very happy 94th birthday, which is on Saturday.
Dr. Dugoni has inspired us for years through his encouragement, mentorship, and involvement with our people and programs. We are grateful for everything he has done for the school, and for what he continues to do to support our quest for excellence.
He is a role model for me and so many others in our profession and in our community. We wish him the very best on his special day.
As we prepare to celebrate commencement and the results of years of hard work by our students and residents as well as our outstanding faculty and staff, the following stories are reminders of how important it is to stay committed to what we do.
University of the Pacific’s Presidential Search Advisory Committee have shared an update following its recent meeting. I encourage you to read the message to learn more about the status of the search, the position profile, opportunities for feedback and other news.
Input from Pacific’s many constituents will play an important role in helping the committee identify a highly qualified group of candidates. The Dugoni School is represented on the committee through the involvement of myself, Dr. Cindy Lyon, our associate dean for Oral Health Education, and Mr. Gary Mitchell, a regent and board member of the Dugoni School Foundation.
