Dr. Robert Peng in Memoriam

It is with great regret that I share some sad news about one of our Dugoni School family members.  Dr. Robert Peng was killed in a motorcycle accident on his way to teach in the pediatric clinic on Monday, November 16. Dr. Peng was an associate professor and long-time faculty member, teaching part-time in the pediatric clinic for many years. He graduated from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Dentistry, and also received his training in pediatric dentistry at UCLA. Dr. Peng was a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Peng’s chairperson Dr. Jeff Wood says, “Rob Peng’s passion for teaching and dedication to our clinic and our students was exemplary and a model for us all. He was a well-respected colleague and teacher, and will be greatly missed by all who worked with him. ”

I know that I will personally miss his kindness and friendly smile when I would see him on campus.  Our thoughts and prayers go out to his widow, Lily, their two sons, and all of his friends, family and colleagues.

Olivia informed us of this tragic news. We remember Robert from when we met in Cebu, Philippines, during the maiden Philippine mission led by Olivia in 2018. Robert was delayed by a couple of days, but still made the effort to participate actively. We were immediately struck by his innate cheerfulness and goodness, despite jetlag from the journey. He helped guide the team while actively treating the kids and faculty.

Please pass on our deepest condolences to his wife and children, from Bob & Carol Moran.
