A New Lunar New Year

Happy Lunar New Year to the Dugoni School family and to those around the world who celebrate. We are saying goodbye to the Year of the Rat and welcoming the Year of the Ox. While the traditions may change this year, there will be millions who will connect with friends and family virtually to mark the special occasion. Enjoy an article with some pictures and history of the Lunar New Year holiday.

A reminder that today Ed Bryan ’57 joins us for an alumni spotlight as part of our Black History Month activities. We look forward to learning more about his life experiences and career in dentistry. Thank you to our Student National Dental Association chapter and the Office of Student Services for organizing the activities this month. Read a Contact Point story about Dr. Bryan

Thank you to everyone who is helping at our COVID-19 vaccine clinic tomorrow for SF Fire Department employees and SF Department of Public Health employees. Since we had additional appointments still available, we were able to open up the vaccine clinic to San Francisco residents age 65+. Appointments and IDs are required.

Our campus will be closed this coming Monday, February 15 for the Presidents’ Day holiday. I hope you enjoy the extra time off. I know you have all been working hard this quarter.  Please enjoy the holiday in the safest way possible and avoid risky behavior. Even if you may have had one or two of the vaccine doses, it is very important to stay safe and model good behavior as healthcare professionals.

As we all continue to be hopeful and guardedly optimistic about some positive steps forward in this pandemic, I thought we could reflect back on these words.

A pessimist sees the difficulty in every opportunity; an optimist sees the opportunity in every difficulty.”
