CDA Follow Up; ADEA BDE News; IT Pro Day

Thanks to everyone who participated in the recent CDA conference activities, including speakers at the event, volunteers at the school’s booth in the exhibit hall, and our alumni reception on campus. It was wonderful to connect with our alumni and other colleagues in person. We also held a meeting on our campus for leaders of CDA and all the California dental school deans (see photo attached). Alumni reception photos are available in the online gallery.

We also hosted a symposium with the Santa Fe Group, “Achieving Equitable Oral Health for Those with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.  A Promise – A Pledge – A Plan,” September 6-7 on our campus. Nearly 100 local, state, and national health care leaders attended. Special thanks to Dr. Allen Wong, program director, for his leadership in putting the program together, and to many others from the school who spoke, attended, and helped organize the symposium. Read more about it here.

The September ADEA Bulletin of Dental Education spotlighted our historic fundraising campaign. It was wonderful to see the acknowledgement of this ten-year campaign that included over 5,300 donors!  Also, the BDE included an article about the Men of Color in the Health Professions event that took place in August, which I had the opportunity to kick off as ADEA Chair. Links to both articles are available on ADEA's website.

Today, September 20, is National IT Professionals Day. A big thank you to our Pacific Technology team for all the work they do to support our people and programs. We appreciate the IT team’s cooperative and friendly approach in helping us learn, work, and care for patients.
